This portrait of Bronte is one of my absolute favourites. She is a beautiful and very clever girl, being a spaniel, and this pose shows off her character and face perfectly. The portrait is full of mood and movement and atmosphere. I tried to express that movement through the use of lines, and not too much fine detail. I thought it turned out rather well!

Lilly Graphite Pencil A5 – sold
I had the privilege of meeting Lilly personally before being asked to draw her portrait. Being a Bernese Mountain Dog she is a very big girl, and so full of life and character! I loved her from the moment I saw her, although her size was a little daunting at first. My two Border Terriers seem tiny by comparison. I thought that Lilly’s fun-loving personality was nicely captured in this portrait. It was a great pleasure drawing her and I was sad to see her leave my studio.
