About

Alison is a pet portrait artist and childrens book illustrator. She began her career as a music teacher in South Africa, after graduating from university with a music degree.

The travel bug soon hit and she headed for the UK. After completing a web design course, she began to work in IT, and soon joined a vibrant radio station as an Applications Developer.

She completed a diploma in children’s book illustration from the London Art College and has since been working as a freelance children’s book illustrator and pet portrait artist.

She loves to express the character and personality of animals through her high quality graphite pencil portraits and feels the medium is an excellent way to express mood, atmosphere and memories.

She has yet to do a portrait of her beloved Border Terriers Toby and Poppy. They’re way too busy doing “terrier stuff” to have their portrait done, or so they say…

She undertakes commissions for graphite pencil pet portraits and childrens’ book illustration.
